Worker Health and Safety
Glacier management has a long standing commitment to maintain the highest standards for employee health and safety. Glacier Project Managers and Field Superintendents ensure that every project is conducted in compliance with the Federal Occupational Health and Safety Act of 1970, as amended including, OSHA 29 CFR Part 1910 Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response, and all other health and safety provisions applicable to federal, state, county, and local laws, ordinances, and codes.
Glacier is committed to the protection of the environment and to providing a safe and healthy workplace. A positive and proactive approach to EHS management is consistent with the spirit and intent of our corporate values. This 6 part approach includes compliance, risk management, training and development, management, improvement goals, and communication.
All Glacier field employees are trained and continuously updated in the use of personnel protective equipment (PPE), air monitoring equipment and decontamination procedures. All have a minimum of 40 hours Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response training as defined by 29 CFR 1910.120 and three days of field experience under the direction of a trained, experienced supervisor. In addition they have 8-hour refresher training each year as required by WAC 296-62-3040(8). All employees receive annual First Aid and CPR Training. Supervisors receive additional safety decision making training.
