Site Cleanup |
Glacier’s team of trained earthwork professionals and laborers have completed site cleanup projects ranging from 10 cubic yards inside a dry cleaning business to projects including mass excavation of over 90,000 cubic yards at a former bus maintenance facility. At the core of this work is our use of modern, well maintained equipment operated by highly experienced heavy equipment operators.
Dig and Haul Off-site transportation and landfill disposal of petroleum contaminated soil (PCS) has become a preferred site cleanup method due to cost and expediency. Excavated material is transported to Subtitle D landfills for beneficial reuse. Clean soil is returned to the site and used as backfill. Federal regulations require landfill operators to place soil or other Alternate Daily Cover (ADC)material over refuse at the end of each day to control vectors, fire, odor, blowing litter, and scavenging. The reuse of contaminated soil for this purpose is a permitted ADC which generates income for the landfill, eliminating or reducing the need and cost to import or mine cover soil. Glacier provides turnkey transportation and disposal services that are efficient and cost effective for our clients. We handle all the required paperwork, container labeling, segregation and bulk packing. Because of the high volumes of wastes handled on our projects, we receive preferred pricing from disposal vendors we are able to pass along to our clients. Glacier has also developed strategic relationships with local inert waste landfills and aggregate material suppliers to provide our clients with cost effective solutions for their marginally contaminated soil disposal, waste management and backfill needs. |
In-Situ Glacier has also implemented In-Situ site cleanup methods including Soil Vapor Extraction, Bio Venting, Chemical Oxidation, Bio-Remediation, Landfarming, Soil Washing or combinations of these methods at multiple sites. Working closely with our clients and their design engineers, we can assist in characterizing sites specifically for in-situ remediation, conduct pilot studies, and assist with remediation design.
Glacier Equipment Operators commonly achieve praise from Engineers tasked with identifying limits of contamination and sampling resulting excavations.
